I’m tabling at PIX Pittsburgh today (my homeland.) Such a great event!
In case you don’t follow me on Instagram (@werdygirl), here’s a brief summary of what I’ve been up to in the past few months:
Locust Moon AND the Philly Zine Fest were at the Rotunda…both great events at a cool space.
The Locust Moon Fest was pretty fun! I had a good time selling my humble mini-comics and zines and I got to meet and chat with lots of people.
This was my table at the Philly Zine Fest.
Note to self: Make the table more welcoming– get a freakin’ table cloth for next time, at least.
I took an observational oil painting class a few weeks ago. These are the two paintings I did. This one is in an earth tone palette.
This is a complimentary red/green palette. I admit, this picture is not great but you get the idea. Oil painting was really interesting and I plan to play around with it a bit more.
I may have started a new tradition this year: make homemade Christmas Eve pierogis from scratch.
Moose has been hanging out.
Doctor Teeth has been hanging out with his new favorite toy.
I spent part of Christmas hanging out with my cat-in-law, Mickey. (He’s 22 lbs!)
I did some Christmas knitting for my mom, which I didn’t take any pictures of. This is the start of two pairs of socks for Sam –just because. I want to finish these up promptly so I can get on with my 2015 resolution: knit 7 pairs of socks for myself. I would like to have a weeks’ work of handmade new handmade socks for next winter. If I keep a steady pace, I will need to make one sock (not one pair of socks) every 3.7 weeks. I was going to settle for 6 socks, since I have one pair I’ve made for myself…but, go big and stay home, right?
This is my new favorite pencil from Cat and Girl, one of my favorite comics. It also summarizes some of the general feelings I’ve been facing this year as I try to figure out what I want to be and do when I grow up.
I’ve been doing some other things that are pretty awesome but I’ll be sharing those with people in 2015. Overall, 2014 was a good year and I’m excited for what’s next.
Today’s the Locust Moon Comics Fest and I’ll be at table S-10B! Come by and visit!
Come see me at table I9-B this weekend at SPX! Check out my live updates on Twitter @werdygirl!
Found out that I got a table at the Locust Moon Comics Festival this year! I’m very excited! More details coming soon!
Summer has just flown by. I don’t know where the time has gone. The weather in PA/DE has been relatively cool and mild for mid-August, so I already have a false sense of fall. The students have already started … Continue reading
I swore that before SPX this year, I would re-vamp my websites and other social media accounts, as they’re in need of a little facelift. They’ve been sorely neglected for a while and I realized that I don’t use them because they’re not a reflection of where I’m at or what I’m about these days. This spirit of “let’s do a make-over!” fueled my impulse to delete my tumblr accounts and start over. It feels…pretty darn good to make a fresh start.
Here’s a list of my to-do’s before the big event:
Finalize an avatar/icon to use on my accounts and upload everywhere.Check.The pictures I was previously using were from 2008-09. I’m relieved this small thing is done.
- Print some business cards with the coupon that came in the mail.
- Scan, edit, and layout Nervous Industry #4
- Finish the writing portion of EVERYTIME zine and lay out.
- Assess whether or not I want to/can finish LOCKET zine before SPX. It’s not a full-on comic so it’s not an essential bring-with.
- Print everything that needs to be printed.
- Collate and bind everything
- Silkscreen covers? Or design alternate cover.
Time is tight with day-time work picking up the pace for the year but being busy helps keep me moving. Tonight, is basically over, so one down and 21 more to go!
